Greyhounds on show at dog event planned for racecourse

RECORD numbers of retired greyhounds from all over the country are expected to be at Nottingham Racecourse next weekend for the Great Greyhound Gathering.

The event next Saturday, September 15, which is now in its sixth year, is the biggest event organised each year by the Retired Greyhound Trust.

Throughout the day there will be classes for greyhounds and other breeds of companion dogs as well as novelty classes. There will also be dozens of trade stands offering a wide range of gifts, doggy accessories and refreshments.

People can take their dogs along to enjoy the day, or adopt a greyhound at the event.

Retired Greyhound Trust chief executive Peter Laurie said: "The Great Greyhound Gathering is one of the most anticipated events for many greyhound lovers across the country each year.

"Simply put, if you love dogs, and especially greyhounds, you won't want to miss the Great Greyhound Gathering, so make sure you mark your calendar now."

Registration begins at 9.30am with the dog classes beginning at 11am.
