Limerick Animal Welfare News Update
Marion is in the USA at the American and European Greyhound Alliance International Conference where she will be giving a presentation on the greyhound situation in Ireland. John Mottram, photo journalist, was in Limerick last month to photograph the recent slaughter of greyhounds in a County Limerick quarry and will be highlighting that topic at the conference. Also on the agenda will be the Kentucky Prison Programme where prisoners care for and train dogs for rehoming and the Greyhound Alliance Sunburst Project where dogs from the greyhound industry in the Florida Panhandle are taken to Boston for adoption.
Marion and Norma went on the Walk for Greyhounds held in Dublin recently to promote greyhounds as pets. There was a large turnout with several well-known personalities taking part.
Our annual Open Day took place last weekend. Luckily the weather was kind and we had lots of visitors. Many thanks to all the staff and the volunteers who came along to help make the day such a success. Thanks also to Dial a Dog Wash and the media group No Limits Ireland.

The Best News of All - LAW dog Fiachla, who had been missing for 2 months after being spooked whilst out walking with her owner, has been found. Here she is relaxing at home after being reunited with Emma. Thanks to the kind lady who had been feeding her and to Munster Dog Rescue who helped catch her.

LAW Dog Show in conjunction with Limerick's 4th July Celebrations. Come to the ''Picnic in the Park'' on Sunday July 8th from 12-4pm in the People's Park, Limerick and enjoy a family picnic with loads of fun, laughter and entertainment. The Dog Show starts at 2.30pm, registration from 12 noon, €2 per class with proceeds to LAW. Classes - Fancy Dress, Best Rescue Dog, Best Give a Paw and The Dog the Judge Wants to Take Home plus Best in Show. See our info and display stand. Also included will be the launch of the Benny DNA Fundraising Competition in Association with My Canine Companion, Dogs for Autism Services.
