A GREYHOUND who survived the Black Saturday bushfires has dodged another
bullet from life.

Richie, 4, has large scars on his neck and back from the bushfires, which
killed his sister when they were puppies in Victoria in 2009.

He cheated death again when he was rescued by the Darwin Greyhound Adoption
Program (GAP) when his racing career ended earlier this year.

GAP NT president Eileen Fletcher said many greyhounds were put down when
they finished their careers.

"I describe them as the battery chickens of the dog world," she said.

"They're always in cages.
