DUMFRIESSHIRE and Cumbria Greyhound Rescue celebrated its 10th birthday with
more than 90 special guests.

The organisation held a mass "Meet a Greyhound" event at the Midsteeple in
Dumfries, with an impressive 91 dogs turning out for the occasion.

Charity chairman and founder member, Graham Hill, said: "What a tremendous
sight it was. All these greyhounds on the Plainstanes, perfectly behaved and
loving the attention.

"Ten years ago, there was no dedicated Greyhound Rescue organisation in
Dumfries and Galloway and in that time, we have found homes for 794 of these
magnificent animals – 794 happy dogs and 794 happy families!"

As well as a celebration the event was also the chance for people to find
out about the charity and how good a pet a greyhound can be.

The charity receives no external funding but nearly £450 was raised on the
day. They would like to thank people for their support, with local MSP – and
life member of Greyhound Rescue – popping along to see the amazing number of
dogs on display.
