Prizemoney Boost For Greyhound Racing

Written by: GRNSW

02/07/12

Greyhound Racing NSW is pleased to announce a boost to prizemoney levels for
all greyhound race meetings across the state.

The latest increases will see minimum prizemoney levels go up by a further
$626,476 over the next 12 months, representing a 3% rise on GRNSW funded
prizemoney compared to the corresponding period.

GRNSW Chairman Eve McGregor said the prizemoney increase will have a direct
benefit for greyhound racing participants in NSW.

"Prizemoney increases are always welcome and the Board was of the view that
participants were due an increase in prizemoney," Ms McGregor said.

The prizemoney increases will take GRNSW's underlying deficit in 2012/13 to
$1.3 million and Ms McGregor said this was something that needed to be
addressed moving forward.

"The Board is focused on broad industry reform that will put the sport of
greyhound racing on a sustainable footing for the future. A review of all
aspects of the sport is underway and is expected to be completed before the
end of the year," Ms McGregor said.

There are no minimum prizemoney levels for Non-TAB races. However, Non-TAB
clubs are required to pay all monies they receive from GRNSW as prizemoney
allowance in prizemoney over the course of the year.

The prizemoney increases will come into effect for all meetings run on
Saturday 7 July 2012 onwards.
