Stop the barbaric and cruel treatment of Spanish hunting dogs

Why this is important

Every dog deserves a decent life, but even more so the "working dogs". Using a dog to hunt for one's own profit, then torturing the dog, mutilating him, setting him on fire, throwing him at the bottom of an abandoned well to slowly die, hanging him to a tree and other barbaric tortures is inhumane, absolutely uncessary and totally unacceptable. But that's the grim reality for Spanish hunting dogs, the Galgos and the Podencos. That's what the Galgueros (hunters) do to "dispose" of their unwanted dogs, treating them like a piece of garbage. But even the ones that they don't kill live a miserable life, being abused, tortured, under-fed and kept in deplorable conditions. If enough people put pressure on the Spanigh governement, they will enact stiff laws to punish this and protect the Galgos and Podencos. Hopefully, we can change mentalities, stop this horror and ensure that those working dogs have a chance at a decent life. I own 2 small dogs who brighten my day, everyday. They are healthy and happy and I wish the same for every dog, everywhere. Dogs DEPEND on us for their protection, they are so vulnerable and so trusting.

You can also look into adopting a rescued Galgo or a Podenco. Organisations in Europe and the US save as many as they can and they need a place for them. Look these up on the Web: Scooby Medina in Spain, Galgo Rescue International Network in the US or Galgos France, to name just a few. They do amazing work! While saving as many dogs as possible is a wonderful mission, we also need to attack this problem at the root, which is the Spanish hunters' mentality and the lack of action from the government.
