Abandoned greyhounds found in Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS - Eleven greyhounds were left abandoned in a dog trailer at a
Wichita Falls convenience store for about 40 hours before they were
discovered Nov. 21.

Wichita Falls Animal Services Center rescued the dogs from the trailer and
took them in. All greyhounds were fully-grown adults, and the Animal
Services Center found a rescue group to take them.

Wednesday morning, they were loaded into several vehicles to be driven to
Carrollton where Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, Inc will have a vet
give the dogs shots, run routine tests and check their overall physical and
psychological condition.

The dogs will then be placed in foster homes in the area where they will be
taught basic manners and skills pet owners expect a dog to have.

If found, the owners could possibly face criminal charges, and at the very
least will get a fine for abandoning the animals.
