One of the last hares on the Altcar Estate where the Waterloo Hare Coursing competition was held. This estate once teemed with hares. A team of people were employed to look after them and protect them 365 days a year.....and 24 hours a day. Since the ban on hare coursing the protection has gone. Why are hunting organisations such as the CA and the masters of hare hounds not screaming this from the roof tops! Why aren't those tasked with protecting our way of life not holding the various anti hunting groups to account for the damage they have done to hare numbers! I was recently working up North and seeing the name Altcar on the map I took a detour to look at those hallowed grounds. I walked maybe 2-3 miles around those fields and saw not one hare.
The ban on hare coursing is directly to blame and its time anti hunt groups were held accountable.
